Our first hospital trip…
Description
yikes!! we had our first midnight hospital run on friday!
On Friday morning, Jessie had her inoculations (round 2), that evening she started becoming lethargic and restless. her temperature went up and down but stayed above 37.5. i tried panado syrup, but she kindly gave it all back
(white top and green panado..not a great combo). Eventually after 4 hours of restless, moaning sleep, we took her to hospital. When we arrived there her temp was 39!!!
they stripped her, and put a damp cloth on her head, temp stayed high. gave her an Empaped suppository. that brought her down some. home at 2am.
monitored her temp all night. (not much sleep for mom and dad)
at 7am, she was feeling warm again. i took her temperature and it was back to 38.5!! cool bath, rubs with damp cloth, leaving a fan on her, naked. nothing brought it down… back to hospital at 10. they gave her a Ponstan suppository. that seemed to work. I was told to give her a combination of Empaped and Ponstan every 6 hours alternating between the 2. That evening i gave her another suppository and she cooled down! Her temp dropped to 34.7!!
so i did everything to warm her up as she was cold to touch! She slept on me covered in 2 blankets plus my blanket and duvet! talk about stress!!
But she woke up at 9am Sunday right as rain!! yay!!!
after 3 months, this was our first set sleepless nights… not bad going!
but sheesh, you feel so helpless and useless!! the doc wasnt worried as Jessie was drinking and had no other symptoms! They did phone the paediatrician to find out if she should be admitted, i wasnt happy when i heard that! but hey, luckily it didnt happen! it was just a temperature, probably due to a random virus!
Jessie is doing beautifully otherwise! we are still very much in awe and are loving every second! at this rate, i want loads of children!! its so special!
