caterpillars and responses

Jessie has a pretty incredible vocab for a 3year old. In fact I think it would be safe to say that she has an incredible vocab full stop.
Last week while hunting for caterpillars, she was going around the garden calling “Lucy, Lucy”. After about 5minutes of calling, she came to me and said, “mommy, why is Lucy not responding to me?”. Well I think my jaw hit the floor! Responding!?!
I wanted to see if she understood what responding meant. So I asked her if she knew what it meant. Her response, “it means she (Lucy) is not answering me.” Wow!!! She can use the word “responding” in a proper sentence, and she know what it means!?! Jeepers. I’m still blown away!
