Homeschool first week
Our first week of homeschooling is done and dusted! It was an awesome week. We got a taste of the joys of homeschool, as well as a taste of the trials.
We are using Sonlight, its amazing! I love how every week is layed out, everyday is planned and you always know what’s going on and where you’re going with your week. The books are beautiful, informative and fun. I’m amazed by how much Jessie has learnt this week. She has taken to it so well!
We had quite a week, and on our first day of schooling, we had to take Jack off to the Paed. So we just schooled around it. Sure “school” took us a bit longer that day, but it doesn’t matter. We did what we needed to do and had fun doing it. (Jack got cellulitis from a spider bite. Nasty! But all sorted now)
There were times when I was overwhelmed, I had moments where I got caught-up in the” you need to concentrate and get this absolutely one hundred percent right” . But luckily I was able to bring myself back to “normal” quickly enough. Its so hard not to push your kids when you know that they can do something, but are just having an “off” moment.
We have decided to take a relaxed approach for this year. We are getting everything done, but if it takes us all day, that’s ok! I don’t feel jessie is old enough to have to sit and still and learn for an hour at a time. So we do some school, then play, do some school, play, play and do school at the same time, eat and do school… You get the idea
This week’s books are all ready to go. Its going to be awesome!

I’m so glad you have a fantastic first week! May you have many more to come [smile].

I really, really admire you for doing this – I think my attention span and my talent for procrastination and digressing will not make me a fab home school teacher!
Hehe
Jess, its not that hard, really! Its so much fun! You’d be surprized at how engaging it is. We have a hard time stopping “school”
